Congratulations to Roland Andrag. Roland is a kite surfer, wind surfer, engineer and busy family man who also loves flying. With some skydiving and sail plane flying behind his belt the thought off flying an aircraft-in-a-backpack was very appealing. Roland put in the effort and completed his traininig in minimal time. During his training we flew at several sites including Hermanus, Du Toits, and Langebaan. Roland now flies whenever the weather and logistics allow, which given the numerous sites across the Western Cape is fairly often

The Barberton Competition held over the last week of April was a huge success with a total of 59 pilots taking part in the event. The weather played ball with 5 out of the 7 days delivering great conditions in this stunning part of the country. The overall winner of the competition was Russell Achterberg. Drakensberg Dreams

Every so often alongst one’s travels you come across a place of beauty and think to yourself “I need to do some recreational flying here”. The Mnweni Valley in the Northern Drakensberg has been one such place for instructor Ria Moothilal. Earlier this month, fellow instructor Mias de Klerk joined Ria on a cross country hike ‘n fly across this valley. Flying with vultures and getting high amongst these giant mountains was certainly worth the trip. Would you like to fly the Drakensberg?
