First Solo Flight Course

The First Solo Flight Course is a 1.5-day training course conducted by SAHPA and SACAA approved National Flight Instructors. The point of the course is to teach you the basics to get you to perform your first solo paragliding flight. The course content covers education on the equipment, take-off techniques, turns, landing techniques, and your first paragliding flight. Ground school training takes place in Cape Town, solo flight practical will take place at an appropriate takeoff site based on the weather forecast

Terms and Conditions

  • Minimum age = 14
  • Minimum weight = 50kg, maximum weight = 115kg
  • Ground school phase (Day 1) needs to be completed to our instructors’ satisfaction before the first solo flight will take place
  • Students unable to satisfactorily complete the ground school phase will be offered a tandem flight
  • Paragliding is a weather dependent activity
  • A medical self-declaration will need to be signed confirming no physical/mental disabilities that may jeopardise the safe operation of a paraglider
