A large coastal sand dune — South Africa's first paragliding training site historically — offering soaring once you've crossed to the peaks west of the dune. Modern wing performance and the dune's limited landing area make it less suited to training than it once was.

Hazards & cautions

Turbulent in a southwesterly; always check conditions at the top of the dune before committing, as the venturi effect there can be severe.

Launch & landing

Launch from the crest of the dune, around 100m above the base (120m ASL, 1200m ceiling).

Access

Via the N2 to Gordon's Bay, then the coast road toward Pringle Bay; roughly 20km along the coast, turn off toward Stony Point onto gravel, and the dune is visible after about a kilometre.
