1. About Air School Paragliding (Pty) Ltd
Air School Paragliding (Pty) Ltd is a SACAA Declared Training Organisation (DTO) and SAHPA-approved paragliding school operating in Cape Town, South Africa. All training is conducted by a SAHPA Grade B & C certified instructor.
2. Bookings and payment
Course bookings are confirmed upon receipt of a deposit or full payment as agreed at the time of booking. Specific payment terms (deposit amount, due dates) will be communicated directly at the time of enquiry. Confirmed dates are held exclusively for you once payment is received.
Prices listed on this website are current at the time of publication but may change. The price applicable to your booking is the price confirmed in writing at the time of booking.
3. Weather cancellations and rescheduling
Paragliding training is weather-dependent. Air School Paragliding (Pty) Ltd reserves the right to cancel or postpone any session where conditions are assessed as unsuitable for safe flight training. Weather cancellations are communicated as early as possible — typically the evening before or the morning of the session.
If conditions are unsuitable before your course has begun, your session will be rescheduled at no additional cost. If no suitable rescheduled date can be agreed before the course starts, a full refund will be issued.
Once training has commenced, no refunds are offered for sessions lost to weather. Weather delays and rescheduling mid-course are a normal part of paragliding training and are not grounds for a refund.
4. Student cancellations and refunds
The following cancellation terms apply to the deposit paid to confirm your place:
- More than 14 days before training: deposit fully transferable to a future course date, or refunded less a R200 administration fee.
- 7–14 days before training: 50% of deposit transferable to a future course date. No cash refund.
- Less than 7 days before training: deposit forfeited. No transfer, no refund.
- No-show or cancellation on the day: deposit forfeited and non-transferable.
Training slots are limited to maintain safe instructor-to-student ratios. We appreciate as much notice as possible so the slot can be offered to another student.
Where a cash refund applies, it will be processed via the original payment method within 10 business days.
5. Health, fitness, and eligibility
Paragliding is a physically active sport. Students must:
- Be at least 16 years of age (students under 18 require written parental or guardian consent).
- Be in reasonable physical health and able to run on uneven terrain.
- Disclose any medical conditions that may affect their ability to participate safely, including but not limited to: heart conditions, epilepsy, severe vertigo, or any condition requiring regular medication that could impair coordination or judgement.
Air School Paragliding (Pty) Ltd reserves the right to decline or suspend training where, in the instructor's reasonable judgement, a student's health or condition poses a safety risk to themselves or others.
6. Risk acknowledgement and indemnity
Paragliding carries inherent risks, including the risk of serious injury or death. Prior to commencing training, all students are required to sign a separate indemnity and risk acknowledgement form. No training will commence until this has been completed.
Completing an enquiry via this website or making a booking does not substitute for the signing of that indemnity form.
7. Equipment
All equipment provided by Air School Paragliding (Pty) Ltd is maintained in airworthy condition in accordance with SACAA DTO requirements. Students must follow all equipment handling instructions provided by the instructor. Damage to equipment caused by wilful misuse or gross negligence may be charged to the student at cost.
8. Photography and media
Air School Paragliding (Pty) Ltd may photograph or video training sessions for instructional, safety review, or promotional purposes. If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed, inform your instructor before the session begins. We will not publish identifiable images of you without your consent.
