A technical, thermic mountain site set against dramatic cliffs — best flown in the afternoon. The nearby Bain's Kloof launch is an easier alternative.

The upper launch should only be used in very light wind.
Launch & landing
The main launch, at the third car park from the top of the pass, is straightforward, but nearby landing options are limited to a thermal or trees; in a southwesterly, use the car park above the tunnel entrance instead. Height runs from around 800m to 1300m ASL depending on launch, with the civilian ceiling capped at 1300m ASL near the radio masts (rising to 2300m clear of them, toward Bain's Kloof Pass). Landing options include the car parks themselves or a strip beside the powerlines.
Access
Via the N1 to Paarl, taking the old Du Toit's Kloof Pass route rather than the tunnel, and parking near the crest depending on wind direction.
