Three designated launch points sit along the Signal Hill crest, each with a different character. The Buttress, right next to the main car park, is a kikuyu-grass slope on the edge of a picnic area — moderate use, very public. The Aerial launch, reached by a short walk past the trig beacon, is more tucked away and gets less foot traffic. The Bench, the most heavily used of the three, sits beside a popular viewpoint and draws a crowd of onlookers, including model-aircraft flyers who often use the same spot.

Table Mountain National Park requirements

Licence required: Advance Grade licence (paragliding); C Grade licence (hang gliding) — B-grade hang glider pilots may be signed off by a C-grade pilot in suitable conditions. First-time pilots need 4 supervised launches from each site; visiting or up-country pilots need a briefing and supervised launch from a local pilot.

Designated launch points: Signal Hill North (Buttress), Signal Hill North (Aerial), Signal Hill Central (Bench)

Launch only from the three designated points (Buttress, Aerial, Bench). No slope landings except in an emergency, no night flying, and no damaging vegetation. Launching outside the designated areas carries SANParks penalties, escalating to a site ban. (Per the Oct 2004 TMNP Paragliding & Hang Gliding EMP — confirm current requirements with SAHPA/TMNP.)
